Manitoba Inuit Association and Inuit Association of Manitoba are pleased to welcome Gayle Gruben in her new role as Chief Executive Officer.

Gayle has been with the Manitoba Inuit Association since 2019, serving in multiple capacities and bringing strong leadership across Indigenous governance, program management, and community-based initiatives. Most recently, she served as Director of Missing Inuit Children of Residential Schools and previously led the Missing and Murdered Inuit Women and Girls initiative, including the meaningful Red Amautiit Project, created alongside families to honour loved ones who were lost.

Originally from Tuktoyaktuk, NT, a beneficiary of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, Gayle brings with her not only extensive professional experience but also lived experience and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Indigenous peoples. She is a proud mother of three and grandmother to eight beautiful grandchildren, who are her pride and joy. An experienced seamstress, Gayle creates traditional Inuit items such as sealskin slippers, fur mitts, parkas and amautiit, strengthening her connection to Inuit culture. She also enjoys baking and cooking and has a passion for the outdoors and nature.

We are honoured to welcome Gayle's leadership, compassion, and commitment to community as we move forward together.

I am honoured to be stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Having been part of the Manitoba Inuit Association since 2019 in various roles, I have had the privilege of working alongside everyone within the association and witnessing firsthand the dedication and commitment they bring to their work and to the community we serve.

I believe strongly in collaboration, open communication, and supporting one another as a team. I look forward to listening, learning, and working together as we continue to build on the important work already underway.

Thank you for your support and to all the staff for all that they do each day. I am excited for what we will accomplish together. I am grateful for the trust placed in me to move forward in this new role.

-Gayle Gruben
