Developing Inuit-Specific Services
There is a need for services that recognize the unique requirements of Inuit in Manitoba. Inuit culture is unique in Canada - and unique within the Aboriginal population. Inuit need culturally specific support, particularly in health support, housing support, education support, and development of cultural programs.
Ensuring Inuit have access to the necessary services in health, wellness, education, training, along with cultural supports are priorities for the directors of the Manitoba Inuit Association.
Visit our Services section for updates on our activities as we work to develop Inuit-specific services with various partners in Manitoba.
“It's easy to say there are plenty of services. There’s not really anything that is specific for Inuit though.” Student Respondent, MIA Education Connections Project Report, p. 27
